What can you learn about a city by looking at its graffiti? In July, 25 young people explored that question with Eren Bozkaya, a student at Kunstuniversität Linz and a member of the Student Network of Linz (SNL).
July 2026 Linz 25 participantsEren led the group on a graffiti tour through Linz. Along the way, he shared insights into graffiti culture and showed participants examples of his own work.
The tour gave the group a chance to look closely at how artists use images, lettering and public space to communicate ideas.
The learning continued through making art together. With Eren’s guidance, all 25 participants contributed to a shared deer graffiti. Creating one image as a group meant bringing individual ideas into a collective work and seeing how each contribution affected the result.
The workshop used graffiti as a practical form of non-formal learning. Participants could explore creative expression by working with an image rather than beginning with a formal discussion. The deer artwork also offered a starting point for considering what different people notice in the same design and how visual art can carry personal or social perspectives.
The finished deer graffiti is a reminder of what the group made together in Linz: one image shaped by many hands and perspectives.
Eren brought his experience as an artist and Kunstuni student to the activity, while his role as an SNL member made the workshop a peer-led exchange. For SNL, the activity showed how a tour and a shared creative task can open up new ways for young people to learn from one another.
Eren Bozkaya is an SNL member, a graphic design and photography student at Kunstuniversität Linz, and a freelance mural artist. He has worked on large-scale murals and co-led a spray-painting workshop in cooperation with the student union ÖH. For SNL, he led a graffiti tour of Linz and guided participants in creating a shared deer artwork.
